With Which Wiki Will We Wiki? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Helene Blowers developed the original Library 2.0 activities using blogs. When helping to set-up our Library 2.0 activities, I purposely chose to use a wiki instead of a blog for the main content. There were two main reasons for doing it this way:

  1. The material could be more easily edited by others. This enabled all members of Management Team to participate in setting up, editing and maintaining the Library 2.o project. I hoped the wiki, itself, would encourage other staff members to participate over the course of the project which worked out very well. Thank you everyone!
  2. The material could be kept private (using a version of wikispaces that requires a small fee). This would enable us to get comfortable with the activities without having nonstaff lurking, judging, commenting or editing.

And an unexpected benefit was that the week seven activities are easier because by doing the earlier work, we had gained experience with a wiki already!

As the Library 2.0 project continued, I learned that there were other wikis and some had better features. PBWiki, http://pbwiki.com/edu.pb, looks better and is free for educational purposes. Take a look! You can comment about it here, if you wish.

(Smiles - I am trying to develop my blogger brevity skills. It appears that I have more work ahead.)
